Most things are boring after some time. Unless you make it so that they aren't of course. Not that you can trust anyone else to make sure of that, people are too easily pleased. Their wishes aren't anywhere near ambitious enough to be entertaining!

You think that will be enough to stop anyone? It's not as if anyone ever believes that they will be punished until it actually happens and if it does they usually forget about it soon enough.
